Hypotheses

The Likert scales were divided into two groups of six questions each that comprised the two variables, "Mexican" and "Spanish-speaker". These variables could then retest hypothesis 2.

Hypothesis 2

Attitudes toward Spanish-speakers may be influenced negatively at SDSU by the university's proximity to the Mexican border.

Hypothesis 3

San Diego's location on the border with Mexico makes the term "Mexican" and, by extension, discussions of Mexicans taboo.
