MLA Requirements
The source list is called by different names-works cited, bibliography, references. Sources are also called by different names- citations, references.
MLA uses Works Cited. It is a centered heading on a separate page than the text. All of your sources must be alphabetized by last names of authors. Follow the following format for each source entry.
- Author. Title. Publishing information. Date.
- Author. Title. Web Site Name. Date. web address
- Author. "Title." Journal Title. Volume #. Issue # (Year): page #.
Within the paper, the citations need to be in the most academic language possible. See the following examples.
Author claims that when people marry now "in one sense, they don't seem to know what they are doing"
(page #).
Author states that "the unemployment problem will continue to grow"(page #).
According to Author, late term abortions are "barbaric and cruel" (page #).
Many drug laws target the user and make little progress in the war on drugs (Author page#).
